What We Believe:
FAQ’s
-
What should I wear on Sunday mornings?
You won’t be out of place if you
dress anywhere within the range of
business dress-down to casual. We
try to “be ourselves” while at the
same time respecting the fact that
we are gathering to worship God.

-
Is
there something for my children?
Yes. Our children’s service will
teach a class and provide activities
for younger children (up to 10 yrs.)
during the time you are in the
meeting. However, children 11 and
above typically join us in our
meetings. Also, there are regular
weekly events available for those
who wish to join junior high/ high
school activities. For further info,
please see our “Youth” link on this
site.

- Are
you a charismatic group?
If you are referring to people who
enjoy a vocal, passionate, warm
worship experience, then the answer
is yes. However if you’re asking to
find out whether we stress tongues
speaking in our meetings, then the
answer is no. Although some of our
members speak in tongues, and we
believe that God can still operate
through believers this way, tongues
and other miraculous gifts have been
terribly abused among Christians
today. We therefore find it more
expedient to encourage their
practice in non-sensational avenues
rather than in high profile public
events.

- How do I get
there?
-
What version of the Bible do you use?
We do not have an officially
declared version of the Bible. The particular translation used
on any given Sunday depends upon who
is ministering and what version he
happens to be studying. However, we
try to base our teachings upon
versions that are proven among the
people of God for their readability
and accuracy like the King James
Version, the New King James Version,
the Holman Version, or the New
American Standard Bible.

-
What kind of music do you have in your meetings?
|
back to the top > |
We play light contemporary Christian
music, occasionally mixing it with
Christian classics and “homegrown”
spiritual songs written by people in
the church.
|
- How do I
join your church?
|
back to the top > |
Our attitude is that if you have
received Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior, you are already spiritually
a member of CCA. As long as you hold
the biblical Christian faith, we
will receive you freely.
|
-
How do you handle differences of opinion?
Doctrinally speaking, we expect that
people who consider us as their
home congregation should be in full
agreement with the biblical
Christian faith, the core teachings
that make a person a real Christian.
We do not insist on unity in minor
matters of teaching, however, we
also ask that no one joining us
would embark on a “mission” to force
any particular belief of theirs into
the church.
If a difference of opinion emerges
concerning the leadership
arrangement or direction of our
assembly and it ultimately will not
allow a person to peacefully
continue here, then we respectfully
encourage that person to find a
church where they can submit to the
leadership. This is to prevent
division in the assembly.

- Is
your church racially diverse?
Yes. In our meetings you will see
individuals from an international
“rainbow”—Caucasians, African
Americans, Africans, Asians, and
Hispanics. A Chinese speaking
outreach group is also part of CCA.
It meets with us in the same
facility and occasionally joins us
for “celebration” style meetings.

-
Are you affiliated with a denomination/ministry?
No. CCA is independent of any
official ties to such organizations.
However, in keeping with our belief
that the Body of Christ should be
practically realized in our city, we
try to maintain good relations, a
high level of respect, and where
possible, coordination with other
Christian congregations here
locally. Also, allowing for the
spiritual reality of one Body of
Christ on the earth, we occasionally
endorse conferences hosted by
churches in other cities.

-
What do you have for those who are new to the
Christian life?
We try to practice personal
mentoring by individual arrangement.
This is typically settled in one of
our home groups. If you or someone
you know needs a sound introduction
to the Christian life, there are
many among us who are seasoned and
can provide some help and guidance.
If you are between the ages of
18-30, then Oasis Christian
Community, our young adult work, has
study and discipleship programs
available.

-
What do you have for those who wish to go deeper
in the Christian life?

We regularly conduct classes that
cover the deeper thoughts of
scripture and depending on the level
of interest, operates training
sessions for those who wish to serve
in a greater capacity in the church. |
