Care & Support:
Small Group Stories
"We had the most amazing gathering in my home
last week. It was probably the most incredible
meeting I have ever been in (and I have been in
meetings for 30 years!). We were able to be so
genuine and informal and actually really listen to
what each other was saying without interrupting,
without opinions and comments of instruction,
correction or adjustment. It was fellowship without
agenda, communication without pre-conceived motive
and through that the Lord was able to flow in a
healing, nourishing and fresh way in our hearts and
He was able to perfect a gift in His body (we had a
literal healing). I have been so awestruck by what
happened that I have been barely able to speak of
it. The Spirit of the presence of Christ that I
touched then has lingered all week in my heart
leaving me in a state of awe that is hard to
describe."

“Monday evenings are a great time. Bring 6-8
couples of all ages, add their kids playing
together, throw in lots of tasty food and you have a
wonderful, loving family environment. Since everyone
feels so comfortable and informal, genuine
sentiments always come out, resulting in sharing,
heartfelt prayer, scriptural reading/study, and even
singing. My wife and I never feel like we lack an
outlet, whether we are going through good times or
rough ones. It’s a soul-soothing feeling to leave
our small group every week, fully assured that we
are part of God’s family (and experiencing it,
too!). The last time I checked there were a few
empty seats waiting to be filled…”

“I value the format that allows
us to pray when someone is struggling, sing when
someone is joyful, or consider scripture when
someone has a biblical question…I know that I can
rely on the other members to support me and my
family in our pursuit of Christ.”

“When two or more are gathered:
My wife and I are part of the ‘two or more’ who
gather weekly at the home of another believer near
where we live. ‘More’ is exactly what happens when
we meet. The Lord has been able to do more and to be
more to all of us than when we were alone. I had a
situation recently in which I thought I would lose
my job. After bringing it to the others in our small
group, we prayed and gave the situation to the Lord
in a way that my wife and I had not been able to do.
Later, instead of losing my job, I received a raise
and a bonus! Things like that are just some of the
ways in which we can experience ‘more.’ Our
gatherings have made both God and us very happy.”
…to be
continued…
